 Shapes,colour and light - simplifying the landscape

This  workshop is designed for beginners and intermediate students -  all mediums welcome. Ann will be working in oils

This course will be about focusing on the big shapes, the source of light and the colours in a landscape. We will be working through a simple landscape, touching on shapes, values, design, and edges.

This workshop will focus on composition, structure and design of your landscape. Before a painting is even begun, decisions have to be made about the overall design. Some of these decisions include:

1.     Focal Points

2.     Design Principles

3.     Space

4.     Orientation

5.     Use of values

6.     Colour harmony

Each morning will start with a brief discussion of the above subject matters, followed by  exercises designed to help you think about the composition before starting. Ann will be doing short demos throughout the day, as well as helping each individual with their painting on a one-on-one basis.

You will be asked to bring your own reference photos and we will spend some time going over them prior to painting.
